New Student Home Visits/New Student Linking

Before new students start school, Betama International Montessori Academy  (BIMA) will arrange new student linking activities at school or new student home visits. Mainly, before the start of school, teachers invite new student families to the school to familiarize themselves with the classroom environment and teachers. When children are unable to come to school for linking, we conduct home visit activities for new students.

The main purposes include:

1. To increase the familiarity of young children with the school, alleviate their anxiety about starting school, understand the students' family background, growth environment and living habits, in order to better teach students in accordance with their aptitude.

2. To establish good communication channels with parents and enhance home-school cooperation.

3. To introduce the school's educational philosophy, curriculum settings and regulations to parents, so that parents have a clearer understanding of the school.

4. To observe students' personality traits, behavior habits, learning conditions and environment at home, and prepare for providing more suitable learning support in the future.

When conducting new student linking or home visits, teachers usually make an appointment with parents in advance and prepare relevant questions and materials to ensure the smoothness and effectiveness of the linking or home visits.

The following are some questions that teachers of Beta Ma need to know in advance during new student linking or home visits, and they are also questions that parents need to answer:

1. What is the daily routine of the child at home?

2. Who usually takes care of and accompanies the child at home?

3. Does the child have any special hobbies or talents?

4. How are the child's behavior and learning habits at home, such as whether they can take simple care of themselves and whether they have a fixed reading time?

5. What are the expectations and goals of parents for their children in the new school?

6. How does the child perform in interacting with others and whether they are good at getting along with others?

7. Has the child had any experience of independent living or solving problems?

8. Does the family have any specific educational philosophy or method?

9. Has the child encountered any difficulties or challenges in previous study or life?

10. How do parents view the child's strengths and weaknesses?

11. Does the child have any allergies or special physical conditions that need the teacher's attention?

12. What is the cultural atmosphere of the family, such as whether cultural activities or discussions are often conducted?

13. In the process of the child's growth, which qualities and abilities do parents pay more attention to cultivating?

14. Does the child have the habit and limit of using electronic devices at home?

15. Does the family often take children on trips or participate in social activities?"
